Proper Seating Position for Playing Djembe
When you first sit down to play your drum, you have to start at the root, also known as the Root System.
The "root" for djembe playing starts at the feet. You want your feet planted flat.
Moving
up the body, now focus on the drum position. You want it between your
legs with the bowl resting comfortably in the middle of your inner
thighs. The drum is on a slight tilt so that the bass and tone can
escape from the bottom of the drum as you play.
Next,

X8 Community Drummer Spotlight: Maria D.
I discovered drumming as a teenager. I have been drumming now for probably 30 plus years. I'm not a professional; I do it for fun and relaxation. I do it to manage nervous energy, as well as deal with stress! It helps me to relax and unwind, which seems an odd thing to say because it is also great exercise as well. There is not much more exhilarating than being in amongst 20 or more drummers all carrying their own beat, yet it becomes one. The energy and the feeling is indescribable.
