Meinl Slap Top Cajon
Step up to the next generation of cajon. With a comfortable design that brings the strike surface closer to the player for a more upright playing style, this conceptual drum from the forward-thinking minds at Meinl certainly doesn't look like your father's cajon. And while it's the unique look that catches your eye initially, it's the crisp, clean sound and musical versatility that seals the deal for drummers of all skill levels.
Unlike the traditional cajon where the player sits on top and pitches their body forward to play, the Slap Top cajon rests comfortably between your knees for a more natural and more comfortable playing experience that's easier on your body and back when playing extended sets or for longer periods of time. The sound port is strategically located in front so the sound is projected out from the drum and toward the audience. High and low tones, as well as the signature snare effect, are built into the sound board of this specialty cajon.
The highly resonant drum body is nicely crafted of eco-friendly, medium density fiberboard and features a distinctive Makah Burl front plate on the top. Different strike points offer up different tones and beats to give you a wider sound spectrum no matter what type of music you enjoy playing.
- Comfortable design
- Forward sound projection
- Internal snare wires
- Wide sound spectrum
- Eco-friendly construction materials
- Frontplate: Makah-Burl
- Resonating body: Eco-friendly medium density fiberboard

I've owned both - this one, first generation, I'm going back to it. These do wash out eventually. but if they keep the price near one hundred, I can live with it. What I mean is the older, more used the deeper the center bass. The newer the better/more tom sounds coming in from the edge. This unit does not get any marks from my wedding ring as the taller model does! I hope they don't let the prices climb on these...

Pretty cool item. Easy to play with some nice varied sounds. Will be miking it today with a small combo. Hopefully it sounds good miked. The bass isn't very low, but miking it might make the difference.

Nice design, Very stable and comfortable. Amazing how much the sound travels with the front port. I'm a little disappointed with the sound of the snare, (just my personal choice) slapping playing field hard it sounds like a Drum Corps snare at a parade. (Very tight and high pitched)

My order experience with X8 drums was fantastic! When I was first ordering the drum, I tried calling the business number and got right to a customer service agent who was personally friendly and helpful! Then the drum came SO fast and was in great shape with no nicks or shipping damage. The item is exactly what it looks like online and sounds great!
