X8 Roaming Elephant Djembe w/ Bag
We’ve taken our professional level drum and elevated it with with a work-of-art carving. While it takes days and several carvers to get each of the roaming elephants just right, this drum is meant to be played!
The shell is carved from a solid piece of sustainably harvested mahogany hardwood that has a natural warm tone. Mahogany is also used on instruments like guitars and pianos for this very reason.
Before applying the head and rope, master carvers sit and create the story of the elephant’s journey. The drum is passed around to other carvers who specialize in specific carving areas. Some of them work on just landscape carvings while others have perfected the art of creating faces. Since each of these are hand carved, no two drums will be exactly the same. No mass production here!
The drum head is using our highest quality goatskin. These heads show their natural colorings and are thick so they can be tuned tight.

This djembe is masterfully crafted and sounds great. I love the design and feel of this drum and it's even got my djembe instructor jealous! X8 is definitely the king of drums and I would highly recommend people looking for their first djembe to get an X8!
This djembe drum is more than I expected. I found the DVD to be very helpful as well. Thank you for the great service and fast shipping.
I've been shopping at X8 Drums for years and frequently visit the site. I just noticed this drum recently and had to have it. Yes, I'm a drum hoarder. Straight to the point..... this drum is simply beautiful. The carving of the Elephants are stunning and the craftsmanship is second to none. Solid shell, great rope and a premium head. What more can you ask for?? Perhaps just one more drum??
