LP Udu Drum Udongo II (LP1400-UG)
Included with purchase:
LP Udu Drums possess distinct tonal qualities which range from subtle bass tones to soothing tabla-like tones. Their clay construction is based upon centuries-old African traditions. The name "Udu" has been derived from the Nigerian Ibo language, meaning "pottery".
Each LP Udu Drum offers individual tonal values. They can be played by hitting any part of the drum with the palm of the hand or the finger tips. The textured surfaces provide additional tonal variations by creating rubbing sounds.
The sound possibilities can be further expanded using the unique microphone ports found in each chamber. Small mics can be mounted for amplification and to capture the wondrous internal sounds.
LP Udu Drums are generally played in a seated position with the drum on the player's lap. They can also be played on a table top or floor using the included straw ring stands.
The LP Udu Drum Udongo II is a dual chambered, horizontal drum that sits 21" long x 10" wide x 10" tall. The larger, rounded chamber produces mellow, deep bass tones while the smaller, concave chamber has a flat top and creates sharp, bright tones that have a "wet" sound. The textured surfaces allow for rubbing sounds to be created and the top holes in each chamber create "popping" sounds as well as control air flow.

I bought it for a drummer friend of mine. He never played one before. He sent me this video the next day:
back order was worth the wait

I had to wait a few weeks while the back order was processed but it was well worth it. This instrument has a broad diversity of possible techniques and playing style. The clay tone is very strong with this one.

been playing conga drums 38yrs and found a new love, udu drums. very pleased with the drum. good tones high and low. need some one to make a good stand for udu drums too old to sit on the floor.
Excellent service on a quality instrument.

I was pleased that I was able to view a demonstration of the instrument being played before making my selection.
The instrument arrived earlier than was expected. The instrument was also well packaged and protected as the udu is a ceramic instrument.
I am well pleased with the selection, price, and service.
