Music Eases Pain in Children

Studies are showing that music helps alleviate pain for children undergoing procedures. Montreal’s The Gazette reports that a new University of Alberta study has revealed that music helps reduce the perception of pain in children. In a randomized clinical trial, a team of researchers tested the effects of music on children receiving intravenous lines in the Stollery Children’s Hospital from January 2009 to March 2010. Forty-two children were divided into two groups; one group listened to music will their IVs were inserted and the other group did not. The group of children who listened to music reported less pain post-procedure. Read more here: Study finds music can reduce pain for kids in ER
