This is my "go to" instrument for practicing various rhythms between other activities. It's small and easy to take along here and there. It's comfortable, and has a nice combination of sounds - a pleasant "gravel" background tone for the shaker, and a bright "clap" for accent notes. There's an asymmetry to the shape, which I like because it feels more like something to be used rather something than to be preserved.
