Mode introduction

Pygmy mode, a traditional music from sub-Saharan central Africa, is mainly distributed in Congo, Central African Republic and Cameroon. This mode was first used by Swiss company PANArt in the Hang, the ancestor of handpan.

Traditional Pygmy music is often used in tribal rituals in Ibuga and plays a leading role in them. The "Low Pygmy" mode is a variant of the "Pygmy" mode, which is reflected in the different scales arrangement in the handpan, so that the traditional Pygmy music can be performed more softly in the handpan.

"Low Pygmy" belongs to the minor mode, which can be considered as C minor. It is a classical five-tone mode in the handpan, and is loved by many handpan performers. Its melody is a little bit melancholy and can be used in jazz and improvisational music. Because its feature is the minor mode, it can also be used in the creation of peaceful or romantic music. "Low Pygmy" inherits the gentleness and introversion of African music with the support of ethereal timbre of handpan, so it makes this mode a better thinking and healing meaning.
