Passing Down a Drumming Legacy
Hand drummers are the overall recipients of generations of tradition and culture that is worldwide, yet, can contribute significantly to a local flavor and feel. One such tradition was best seen in a recent ceremony in Atlanta, as reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Baba Harold Atu Murry, an African drummer who has made and played hundreds of drums throughout his 60-year career, will pass along his collection to local drummer, Akumba Bynum-Roberson.
