New Zealand Percussion Group Strikes a Unique Beat

Strike Percussion is the name of a musical ensemble in New Zealand. The group uses dramatic staging and unconventional instruments to garner interest in percussion. Leni Sulusi, a member of the ensemble, teaches at Macleans College in Auckland and has been able to teach his students a “high standard level of work which most schools won’t do” as a percussion instructor. Strike Percussion was formed in 1993 and works to inspire future percussionists. The group will soon perform Elemental, a show that has been performed throughout New Zealand and focuses upon the four elements: air, water, earth, and fire.
