Evidence: Music Programs in Schools Improves Memory

We strongly support music education in schools and take advantage of any opportunity to share studies that show how music and drumming can help enhance a child's ability to learn and communicate. This article provides a in-depth summary of a study conducted in Germany over a year and a half period of time with 7 and 8 year old kids. The results showed that children who include musical instrument playing as part of their learning curriculum have overall higher scores in verbal memory than those who did not incorporate music. If you are a teacher, save the resource below in your files to use as supporting documentation when requesting a budget for musical instruments in your classroom.
