Living the Drum: Francisco Aguabella
Cuban music may be best known for the sound of the drums that drive the beat, and there are few percussionists that can claim a true mastery over the sound and style of the conga drums. Worldmusiccentral.org recently interviewed Francisco Aguabella, a master of Cuban percussion, in order to understand his heritage and roots in drumming. From a young age, Aguabella was a drummer, starting out on the bata drums before embarking on a multi-decade career that has touched the lives of musicians around the world.
