Remo djembes are based upon the traditional drums of the West African Mandingo people, originating from the great Mali Empire of the 13th and 14th century. In Africa, one of the Djembe's functions is as a healing drum. Remo Djembes are based on the same traditional Djembe tone and form combined with Remo's modern advances including a wide range of tuning systems, heads, finishes and sizes.
REMO'S key-tuned djembe have had great success as the most user friendly djembe in the world. With features like portability, tunability, durability, and playability it's no wonder why it is the choice for thousands and thousands of professional and recreational drummers for years.

Great drum for the price.
Love the bass tone out of the center and the crisp sound from the sides.
I am, however, looking around for instructions on how to change the tone from the drum. Almost no one has a detailed set of instructions on how to tune the drum. A friend of mine has the same size Remo drum, but the tone is completely different, it has a warmer sound all around. I am wondering if its the tuning or the material of the drum head.

Love the look and the sound but it's a bit heavier than I hoped. I was trying for a lighter drum to schlep around. Would help to have the weight listed.
Helped a friend select a drum

I have started a local drum circle and got a friend hooked. She developed a clear idea of the sound she liked and the videos on line gave her the help she needed to get the perfect drum. She was looking for a deep base sound. I helped her shop and we ordered the drum. She is in love with her new 14 inch Remo drum. The sound is just what she wanted. She could not be happier.
