This classic, African style djembe will soon become your new favorite hand drum. You’ll love its easy playability, beautifully detailed shell and all the incredible, full rounded sounds you can pound out.
The high quality djembe itself is precision crafted from a single piece of eco-friendly, plantation grown mahogany wood, turned and shaped on a lathe, and accented with ornamental, hand-carved detail around the top and bottom. The hollowed out interior is also carved by hand to tune and shape the sound. The genuine goatskin head fitted onto the drum is hand-selected by Meinl artisans so that only the best of the best is used. The head is then stretched tight and securely attached to the drum body by double braided nylon roping. It’s this tensioned rope system that gives the drum its rich tones and outstanding volume and ensures that the fine tuning lasts longer. When you do have to adjust the tuning, simply increase or decrease drum head tension by tightening or loosening the ropes.
This extra large drum measures approximately 25”H x 13” dia. and includes a professional style carrying case that’s made of heavy-duty nylon with padded walls to protect your djembe as you transport it from one playing place to another.
