Gourd Shekere with Jentere Beads
Add warm and slightly funky percussion beats to your musical ensemble and play list with this handheld shekere. It’s sure to get as much attention for its exotic good looks as it will for its crisp and distinctly unique sound.
Inspired by shekeres that originated in Western Africa centuries ago, our traditional-look shekere features a netting of jentere beads that rattles against the hollow gourd shell for a unique percussive sound that lends itself to all types of music. The natural, round gourd ensures excellent resonance and volume that cuts through and projects well. A carved wooden handle makes this shekere easy to hold onto while performing, and the long, loose strands from the netting add extra charm and character.
Theses gourd shekeres are available in two sizes so you can play them together simultaneously or individually. The medium sized shekere is 11”-12” long with a 7”-8” diameter, while the larger shekere is 9”-10” long with a 13”-14” diameter. Sizes will vary slightly due to shape and size of the natural gourd.

Cool looking gourd with strange beads on the outside that make the sound. Nice loud rattle sound.
