 Gon Bops
Gon Bops have been manufacturing high quality drums in California since the 1950s. Throughout their history, Gon Bops has insisted that their drums are made in the United States of America. While they started simply producing congas, they have since expanded to bongos, cajons, and other percussion instruments. In addition, they are at the forefront of innovative drum hardware development. Gon Bops uses time-honored and traditional processes to create the world’s best Latin percussion instruments and drums. Only the finest quality materials, such as indigenous hardwoods, are used in the all wood construction of Gon Bops congas and bongos.
As a world-wide leader in Latin percussion instruments, Gon Bops is at the forefront of drum and percussion innovation. Some of their advances have been new designs for drums, such as a teardrop crown with a rounded counter hoop, which allows greater protection to the drummer’s hands, and pre-mounted replacement heads for congas. In addition, Gon Bops manufactures Djembe Cajons, Udu Cajons, and Bongo Cajons. Other Gon Bops instrumental inventions include Taroles (wooden timbales) and chromatic-tuned cowbells. Gon Bops also carries full lines of congos, bongos, bells, claves, and shakers.
